Instructions on putting in eyedrops

1.  Wash your hands.

2.  Shake the bottle.  Remove the cap.

3.  Tilt your head back.  (Consider lying down).

4.  Pull your lower eyelid down with your finger to form a pocket.

5.  Brace your hand that is holding the bottle on top of your other hand (the one pulling down the eyelid).

6.  Look up with your eyes towards the top of your head.  Aim the bottle into the pocket.  Try not to let the bottle touch the eye or eyelid.

7.  Squeeze the bottle (don't worry if more than one drop accidentally falls into your eye).

8.  Close your eyes.  Apply firm pressure for one minute to the area where the eyelid meets the nose (this prevents the eyedrop from going into your nose and throat).

9.  With your eyes closed, wipe off any excess eyedrop with a tissue.

10.  If you need to take more than one kind of eyedrop medication at the same time of day, apply one medication and then wait at least 5 minutes before applying the next medication.
